After much debate, I decided in the end to give Steve Jablonsky the money he deserved for composing the music for the Transformers film. I left the house at 10:40, thinking I would have enough time to go to Best Buy and head to my Astronomy class.
I was sadly mistaken. I went to Best Buy, and all they had was the soundtrack (which in truth is eight popular rock songs that are in no way, shape, or form inspired by the movie). So, I went to Target, Wal-Mart, and finnaly, Barnes & Nobles. None of them had it. Period.
By the time my search was done, it was already 1:30, too late for me to go to Astronomy. In the end, I downloaded the score off of bittorent.
Kinda ironic how that was my original plan to begin with.
Even though I know I'm in College, it still feels alot like Summer Vacation to me. It probably has a lot to do with that on 2 days of the week, I have only one class to go to. The other days, I have only two. In fact, my only long day is Thursday, when I'm there from 10:30 to 3...but thats with an hour long break at 12, and as soon as I finish my Science Lab, I'm free to go.
It just feels weird...it's near the end of September, and I still have yet to wake up to school. I probably will soon enough. Its just weird I haven't yet.
In other news, I started reading Zombie Powder, Kubo Tite's first manga. It has a good story...but the problem is that it was canceled early, at the 4th volume, due to lack to readership. That's a shame, because like I said, it does tell a good story, and really nice character designs.
I’ve needed to do a college post, so this is it. College is a paradox – it is both absolutely amazing and horrible at the same time. Let’s begin with the good things, hmmm?
First off, almost every day, I have an hour long lunch break at the very least. Its awesome how I can just go into the cafeteria, lazily lay my bag on a seat, take my time eating my lunch, and not rush through it. It doesn’t feel like the clock is on my back. Heck, most times, I have an extra half hour. I need to eat slower.
Now, I am usually not one to make friends so quickly, but well, in just one day me and this one guy, Steve, are pretty much Science buddies. Whoever is in Astronomy class/lab first makes room for the other. We didn’t even get into talking about what we like to do. It’s kind of awkward and awesome at the same time.
Steve is the type of guy you’d be surprised about. First off, he’s a science geek, but he looks like a stereotypical PC user. He’s big, with these bear of arms. His hair is a mixture of brown and blonde, and he has tattoos all over his left and right arm. That, and he has a pierced eyebrow. He doesn’t look like someone who would be into science, so I can’t help but chuckle whenever he goes on his wild crazes in class with me.
He’s into sports and psychology too, which doesn’t even make more sense. He looks too big to be athletic, and he seems too lazy at times for psychology. Ah well, moving on!
I have two awesome professors – Stephen Taylor and William Maecham. Taylor is my Compository Writing prof., while Maecham is my History prof. Taylor is the type of person you’d thought you met a long time ago. He just gets on your friendly side real quick with his crazy antics. Case in point: his clock was broken, so he told us whoever stole one from another classroom would get bonus points. I am determined to get at least part of those points.
Maecham, on the other hand, is the type of professor who you get into because he makes the subject matter interesting. He uses a lot of humor, but he’s more serious than not; he just finds a way to get you into the subject with a snap of his finger. The humor has a lot to do with it, perhaps, but I don’t know at this point. It’s too early to say.
Now, for the bad part.
My classes are split between two institutions – Greensboro and the main campus, Jamestown. My first two classes are at Greensboro, and the rest are at Jamestown. The Greensboro campus is a half hour commute from my house, so I have to wake up at 7 so I can be there by 8. Jamestown is another half hour drive, but I always have an hour to get there, so it’s no rush.
It just sucks that I have to wake up so early, and drive so early, just for Math and Spanish.
The first week has also been a living hell. First, the lost the keys to my car, so my Mom had to drive me, and then had to get my car towed to the Car Dealership so they could make another set of keys. Then I get in my first accident the day after!
I’ll talk more about that some other time.
Then, today, my car got towed because I was apparantley blocking traffic for some reason, although I didn’t see that when I was doing the parking.
In other news, my secret RP project is going slow and
steady, but Persona 3 is my gaming god at the moment. As Lazarus has stated,
“Any game where you have to shoot yourself in the head to cast spells is fucking awesome."
That man should be nominated for President.
