I’ve needed to do a college post, so this is it. College is a paradox – it is both absolutely amazing and horrible at the same time. Let’s begin with the good things, hmmm?
First off, almost every day, I have an hour long lunch break at the very least. Its awesome how I can just go into the cafeteria, lazily lay my bag on a seat, take my time eating my lunch, and not rush through it. It doesn’t feel like the clock is on my back. Heck, most times, I have an extra half hour. I need to eat slower.
Now, I am usually not one to make friends so quickly, but well, in just one day me and this one guy, Steve, are pretty much Science buddies. Whoever is in Astronomy class/lab first makes room for the other. We didn’t even get into talking about what we like to do. It’s kind of awkward and awesome at the same time.
Steve is the type of guy you’d be surprised about. First off, he’s a science geek, but he looks like a stereotypical PC user. He’s big, with these bear of arms. His hair is a mixture of brown and blonde, and he has tattoos all over his left and right arm. That, and he has a pierced eyebrow. He doesn’t look like someone who would be into science, so I can’t help but chuckle whenever he goes on his wild crazes in class with me.
He’s into sports and psychology too, which doesn’t even make more sense. He looks too big to be athletic, and he seems too lazy at times for psychology. Ah well, moving on!
I have two awesome professors – Stephen Taylor and William Maecham. Taylor is my Compository Writing prof., while Maecham is my History prof. Taylor is the type of person you’d thought you met a long time ago. He just gets on your friendly side real quick with his crazy antics. Case in point: his clock was broken, so he told us whoever stole one from another classroom would get bonus points. I am determined to get at least part of those points.
Maecham, on the other hand, is the type of professor who you get into because he makes the subject matter interesting. He uses a lot of humor, but he’s more serious than not; he just finds a way to get you into the subject with a snap of his finger. The humor has a lot to do with it, perhaps, but I don’t know at this point. It’s too early to say.
Now, for the bad part.
My classes are split between two institutions – Greensboro and the main campus, Jamestown. My first two classes are at Greensboro, and the rest are at Jamestown. The Greensboro campus is a half hour commute from my house, so I have to wake up at 7 so I can be there by 8. Jamestown is another half hour drive, but I always have an hour to get there, so it’s no rush.
It just sucks that I have to wake up so early, and drive so early, just for Math and Spanish.
The first week has also been a living hell. First, the lost the keys to my car, so my Mom had to drive me, and then had to get my car towed to the Car Dealership so they could make another set of keys. Then I get in my first accident the day after!
I’ll talk more about that some other time.
Then, today, my car got towed because I was apparantley blocking traffic for some reason, although I didn’t see that when I was doing the parking.
In other news, my secret RP project is going slow and
steady, but Persona 3 is my gaming god at the moment. As Lazarus has stated,
“Any game where you have to shoot yourself in the head to cast spells is fucking awesome."
That man should be nominated for President.
Today was just one of those days that began bad and really didn't approve. I went to be at 2 in the morning, after playing Riviera for way too long. Its one of the best RPGs I've played in a long time (especially since its a GBA game), but thats beside the point.
Starting at 4, my alarm kept on going off, when it quite obviously was not even alarm. After an hour of being woken up every five minutes, I just unplugged the stupid thing. The next time I DID wake up, it was 7:50...ten minutes after the bus left.
So here I am, half awake, scared half to death, my mom is yelling at me, I am throwing clothes on, etc. etc. So, my mom has to drive me to school, because if she didn't, I would be late, since my brother's school (High Point Christian Academy) is twenty minutes away. But that made MY brothers late...but they were already 10 minutes late anyways. I just delayed them by two minutes, so whatever.
First period was alright. Mister Wall gave us work as usual with 2 packets. I 85% of the first one by the time the bell rang. I was told by the girl in front of me that its easy as crap. So, its not too bad, I suppose.
Oh, and I met Vanessa's boyfriend 'who really isn't her boyfriend cuz she's still single but he makes her so happy so meh', Brandon. I saw him in the hallways a half hour previously, and I was saying to myself Thats him! So, that was kind of surreal, I suppose.
Anyways, second period was the best moment of the day. In English, we are spending the WHOLE week in the Library to work on our note cards for the senior project. We need 20 a day, for an ending result of 100 by end of Friday. Its Tuesday, so I am expected to have 40.
I have a whopping 85! I am basically good until Thursday.
The day went downhill in Math. It started off good - I got a 100 on a quiz, so it seemed I was back on track. But then we find out before lunch the Girl's bathroom overflowed and the the toilet water decided to invade the back of our classroom. The only major thing that got wet was Cecile's PotC backpack (which is kickass, by the way), so its not too bad.
Lunch was normal. Semi quiet, Kit doesn't like me to get into the cool conversations, Joe does one cool thing, etc. etc.
After lunch, Mister Parker says we'll go to the breachers. I'm somewhat peeved, since everyone knows the sun wants to kill me, but I survived. The point is, I take a nap. I wake up a nap to find Cecile crying. The moment I ask whats wrong, I find out that that egotistical bitch Fiona said 'Your not excused' when Cecile sneezed, and everyone else did the polite thing.
Now, that alone wouldn't bother her. But Fiona, with that 'Mightier than Thou' attitude, and being jealous because she's a fat bitch who can't lose any weight, has been picking away at Cecile's defenses over the past couple of weeks. The middle of last week, she intentionally tried to trip Cecile. Friday, she threw a rock at Cecile's arm. The day we had the sub, Fiona tried to get Cecile down for skipping when all she did was go to the Art room so she wouldn't have to deal with that girl's crap.
This pisses me off to no end for two reasons. One, for eight years there was always one kid who would always pick on me, and he would be some popular kid with lots of friends for support, yadda yadda. And I would have to deal with this crap everyday. This went down tremendously when I moved to NC, but it was still there, somewhat. So, I hate it when I hear or see this happen to someone else.
Secondly, Cecile is an angel. She is one of the nicest, sweetest girls I have ever been blessed of meeting. She's not perfect, but she seems pretty close. Hell, she and Joe's love just seems the sort of love every successful relationship should be based off of. To think that someone with an ego problem would do this to her just makes me want to bash Fiona's skull in.
And, I am done. I need to play Riviera some more.
Once again, nothing out of the ordinary happaned. I just was not in the mood to do anything - I didn't even play Xenosaga! Sure, I did a crap load of graphic and website designing, but that isn't anything you fellas shouldn't be unfamiliar with by now.
