So today, we had a fire drill right at beggining of second period. It was cold, and I would be kind to say I was freezing my butt off. Well, some kid asked me if I wanted to buy an iPod headphone off of him. Turned out that some other kid's pair got tangled up in his back somehow. I didn't ask how - just how much. He said a dollar. So, I paid for it, and I have to say, it was probably the best street deal I ever made.
In other news, I got the first script done for The Dragon's Wail. See, at the beggining of every new module, if it is a level one character, the said character is giving a list of starter limits that usually consist of the following: weak armor, 3 potions of light healing, and a weapon so weak not even a goblin would flinch. Well, I made what the community calls a 'stripping' script, where the character is stripped of all his items. I added to the script though, where he was given a more powerful piece of armor, auto equiped that armor at the module's start up, and given a great sword. It may sound simple, but it took me an hour to make it. Of course, that includes all of the tutorial searching and question asking I had to do.
An old twist on that saying, I know. Anyways, back on task here: no, I am not having any sort of teenage drama that my friends seem to be having lately. It’s just that yesterday, I found a contact who goes by the alias of Sir Gimpy who was part of the community for some time. Is he the master of NWN module developing? Absolutely not. Is he friendly and know a whole lot more about module developing than I do? Absolutely!
In related news, I was trying to go for the Elderscrolls method of conversation, where a list of general topics of actions, like [Government], [Empire], [Observe], [Eat], would lead to the actual dialogue your character would say. Well, I tried doing this in Dragon’s Wail, and whenever the character would ‘choose’ the action, the conversation window would close. So, it looks like we’re sticking with the traditional path.
On another note, I got a new portrait for the main character, Mathias, and the Lady of the Tree. I’ll link the Lady’s portrait when I find the link again.
The Dragon's Wail did not go get through much. I spent most of the day trying to get this mask to work for the life of me. After working on it for two hours, searching on NW VAULT and the NWN forums, and not finding an answer to my problems, I just gave the character a hood head model.
After that, I noticed that it took half a minute to for me to import any file into the module_hak, not to mention the two minutes to save it each time. So, I decided that instead of putting all of my custom weapons, armor, tilesets, heads, and portraits into one hak, I will separate them into six for each category. Took me a half hour to round up all the haks off of NWVAULT, though, but now it takes me half a second for both saving the haks and importing files. Organization FTW!
In other Neverwinter Nights related news, I continued my game time of the cancelled premium module (but finished and released as a free module on NWVault) Darkness over Daggerford. I got the final 'Daggerford's gates are closed' quest done, so I was allowed to tour the countryside. I am very impressed with their custom map system, which is defiantly inspired by Baldur's Gate. Between being hunted by were wolves in a maze, helping a murdered hero cleanse his soul, and unraveling a conspiracy considering a cheese company (who would of known that a halfling would send assassins just to get rid of her cheese-y rivals?), Mathias (my character) got his (my) hands full.
