I’ve needed to do a college post, so this is it. College is a paradox – it is both absolutely amazing and horrible at the same time. Let’s begin with the good things, hmmm?
First off, almost every day, I have an hour long lunch break at the very least. Its awesome how I can just go into the cafeteria, lazily lay my bag on a seat, take my time eating my lunch, and not rush through it. It doesn’t feel like the clock is on my back. Heck, most times, I have an extra half hour. I need to eat slower.
Now, I am usually not one to make friends so quickly, but well, in just one day me and this one guy, Steve, are pretty much Science buddies. Whoever is in Astronomy class/lab first makes room for the other. We didn’t even get into talking about what we like to do. It’s kind of awkward and awesome at the same time.
Steve is the type of guy you’d be surprised about. First off, he’s a science geek, but he looks like a stereotypical PC user. He’s big, with these bear of arms. His hair is a mixture of brown and blonde, and he has tattoos all over his left and right arm. That, and he has a pierced eyebrow. He doesn’t look like someone who would be into science, so I can’t help but chuckle whenever he goes on his wild crazes in class with me.
He’s into sports and psychology too, which doesn’t even make more sense. He looks too big to be athletic, and he seems too lazy at times for psychology. Ah well, moving on!
I have two awesome professors – Stephen Taylor and William Maecham. Taylor is my Compository Writing prof., while Maecham is my History prof. Taylor is the type of person you’d thought you met a long time ago. He just gets on your friendly side real quick with his crazy antics. Case in point: his clock was broken, so he told us whoever stole one from another classroom would get bonus points. I am determined to get at least part of those points.
Maecham, on the other hand, is the type of professor who you get into because he makes the subject matter interesting. He uses a lot of humor, but he’s more serious than not; he just finds a way to get you into the subject with a snap of his finger. The humor has a lot to do with it, perhaps, but I don’t know at this point. It’s too early to say.
Now, for the bad part.
My classes are split between two institutions – Greensboro and the main campus, Jamestown. My first two classes are at Greensboro, and the rest are at Jamestown. The Greensboro campus is a half hour commute from my house, so I have to wake up at 7 so I can be there by 8. Jamestown is another half hour drive, but I always have an hour to get there, so it’s no rush.
It just sucks that I have to wake up so early, and drive so early, just for Math and Spanish.
The first week has also been a living hell. First, the lost the keys to my car, so my Mom had to drive me, and then had to get my car towed to the Car Dealership so they could make another set of keys. Then I get in my first accident the day after!
I’ll talk more about that some other time.
Then, today, my car got towed because I was apparantley blocking traffic for some reason, although I didn’t see that when I was doing the parking.
In other news, my secret RP project is going slow and
steady, but Persona 3 is my gaming god at the moment. As Lazarus has stated,
“Any game where you have to shoot yourself in the head to cast spells is fucking awesome."
That man should be nominated for President.
Yesterday was the day that one of grandest achievement as a post-by-post Roleplayer was revived. That role-play, Citius Altius Fortius, was my first role-play I created on the boards, and it was considered my greatest achievement. It was started in late July, and ended (as in died, or no one posted anymore) in early September. It was a wonderful experience, and I was often told that it was 'the best role playing experience of the whole summer'. Well, after three months of planning, CAF has returned once again to take control of OtakuBoards.
In other news, today at lunch, my friend Michaela was really depressed. MacKenzie (the coolest gay guy I have the honor of knowing) were trying to make her feel better by signing bad attempts at 'Smile face' songs. We got at least a slither of a smile from her, but she wouldn't tell us why she was in such a dumps. The only hint we got out of her was that it involved her mom. I'll bug Kevin about the matter later, since he probably knows.
Yesterday I decided to download the Naruto series up to episode 170. One of my friends made me do it; I'll find out later if it lives up to the hype.
I am officaly overdue for my latest entry, so I will do my best to summarize everyting. First off, my grandmother came down for a visit. Now, before you say something along the lines of 'I feel your pain', let me just say that she is one of the coolest grandmothers a kid can have. No, shes not the type to go skateboarding or do crazy stuff. but shes just generally all out fun to be around. The fact that she seems to knwo pretty much anything abput everything under this big blue sky is an added bonus.
Secondly, my first real RP since Citius Altous Fortius, Pokemon: Legacies, has been in full swing. People have been posting, and thus moving a story along, at a very high rate. Let's put it this way: in just six days, among the 10 of us (there was an eleventh that joined, but he or she dissapeared right when I closed the application thread...), we have written EIGHTY ONE Microsoft Word pages, and we are not showing any hints of slowing down. And despite what you would think by the Pokemon setting, I have a mature plot in mind. There's already hint of it here. And minus the cases of some first time roleplayers, the writing on everyone else's parts is very mature, and have pretty much avoided any sense of corniness that is usally attached to the Pokemon franchise.
In more 'cool' news, I saw tww movies over the weekend - Tim Burton's Sleepy Hollow and Flags of Our Fathers. I loved both of them, but mostly Sleepy Hollow because of Burton's unique twist on the 'cursed spirit haunts small town', genre.
